Dictionary Definition : Laura: Also known as "Solveig", her internet pseudonym, this female specimen of Homo Sapiens founded the Literary Cabinet world. One can spot "Laura," by the fun she has grading papers and drinking coffee, with triple coffee consumption ever since she quit smoking. Like another species, Homo Sapiens Zarasahanous, she enjoys picking at the extreme Twilight fans. This specimen is particularly fond of procrastinating, as most of the other species of the Literary Cabinet Universe are.

Went to the library today. I love this place. I love being around all the books (they claim our uni has something around three billion of them, imagine!), and the silence and all. Could spend WEEKS in there.

When I was little, I even wanted to be a librarian, can you imagine?

Anyway, I copied some stuff I might (or rather might not) need for my next paper. I don't even know why I'm telling you this - I was just wondering about libraries again, and how my ideal library would look like (1. huge, 2. full, 3. tidy, 4. huge armchairs everywhere)...

What are your thoughts about libraries?

Dictionary Definition : Dictionary Definition: Paul-One of the few male LC creatures known to exist, this specimen is one of the eldest in the LC universe. This specimen is known to work long hours but still makes time to commingle with fellow LC denizens. This being has a peculiar sense of humor and has been observed to shun smilies, although this aversion has been lessening as of late.

A good library has that distinctive old book smell to it. You can reach in any given alcove and pull down a book that hadn't been touched in fifty years. The pages are a bit stiff, the typeface looks amazingly archaic, but you know what? It beats the hell out of downloading it. For me, nothing will ever replace the feel of a good, solid book in my hands.

I agree with you, Solveig. Nothing is quite like the peace and serenity of a nice library. Unfortunately, the library of my youth and the library of today are two different animals. But, if I look hard enough, I can still find a nice corner unsullied by modern technology or rude people and relax, even if it's just for a little while.

Dictionary Definition : Kelsey-- Frequently called "Kels," this female specimen of Homo Sapiens belongs to the Literary Cabinet universe. Although she is a young member, she has shown her maturity to be above other species, sometimes. "Kelsey" can behave quite crazy in her own right. One of her most noticeable traits is paranoia and knowledge of trolls.

I'm looking for a job so that I can go on a trip to Europe with my school (Germany's our first stop, Laura) in 2010. I was thinking about maybe working at my local library. Maybe I'd just put the books back where they belong, or read to the little kids on Story Night, or whatever, but it seems like a good job for me and I'd like spending time there. It's not huge, but we have a chain of libraries and I can get any book I want if I'm patient. It's quiet, and I wouldn't have to deal with too many idiots-- just books. Perfect. I'm going to look into it.
