| I am almost done with "Mao's Last Dancer" by Li Cunxin. It's the autobiography of a ballet dancer educated and trained in Mao's China. I love it, it's so fascinating - and it combines two of my interests, China and ballet!
So... definite recommendation for anyone who loves non-fiction. | |

| Wow, that sounds really beautiful. I love anything on other cultures and history so it sounds like something I'd love. Thanks for the recommendation! | |

| Speaking of non fiction, have any of you ever read any James Herriot books? I've read a couple, and thought it would be interesting to discuss them. I've also read a book called Mao's Land of Slaves. I've lived in China for five years, and I have realized how amazing it is that China is one of the leading world economies with the largest army in the world after being so primitive only 35 years ago. The people have had some really difficult times, but they are great people, and their country is beautiful. | |

| Mao's Land of Slaves sounds like a great title. Is it fiction or nonfiction? And what is it about? | |
