| It's not the ideal situation, of course, fueling the hype that irks me. Though, I'm thinking it's the lesser of two evils: a literature-ignorant Twilight mania or a better-read Twilight mania. I'll take the latter. At least kids will be reading something decent, even if it bugs me that it'll be associated, and even good literature has to be baited for kids to read it. | |

Good point, Kelsey... But imagining a nice, clean, fresh copy of "Pride and Prejudice" marked with the stain of Twilight - the mere thought makes me shudder.  | |

| The idea that teenagers need books to be dumbed down in the first place irritates me the most, perhaps even more than classics being presented in Twilight fashion. It may not seem like it, but there are some teenagers who aren't idiotic. | |

| Is there anyone out there who wants to read Austen purely because she is Jane freaking Austen? I really hope so. I want kids to read these works because the works are good, not because Edward Cullen gives them four stars.
Makes me despair. |
